The beauty and the beast - the magical conversion of a gun

I have not posted any robot in ages but I am still doing stuff :-)

For a project I have in mind I made and purchased some gadgets, also this Nerf gun

ALS ICE bucket challenge for makers

As you all already know, the ALS ICE bucket challenge is flooding the internet with funny and not so funny videos of people getting a cold ice water shower for a good reason. We from DFRobot also did our part to get some videos more online.

We hijacked that challenge and extended it to all makers around the world. Makers who get challenged need to build a rig which somehow poures the water out of the bucket or something like that

LMR in Google

I am replying to the message Frits posted on the start page.

I did a qick check about the google presence and there is no sign of disappearance. I am sure it just had a small hickup due the website changing (owner) and/or registration.

As we all want LMR to be the #1 I am also putting links whereever I see fit. Please do the same but do not spam other forums, just place the link where you think it's appropriate.

AI.Frame funding

I've got in contact with the people behind the AI.Frame robots and there are some quite interesting designs. We've got some kits to try them. Now AI.Frame is going the next step and want to collect some funds for a first batch production.

You might recognize some stuff in the pictures. Yeah, my friend and me took that pictures in our DFRobot office.

Five free Insect Bot Mini kits

This is a free (well, it does not cost money) giveaway of 5 Insect Bot Mini kits.

All 5 kits are gone now, please do not request anymore but you still can comment :-)

Insect Bot Mini Workshop

Last Saturday I held a workshop in Xinchejian, our Hackerspace in Shanghai. The workshop was about to build an Insect bot mini.

Mecanum Robot

In my blog about the Shanghai Maker Carnival i wrote about the workshop and our VIP guests but not much about the other stuff. here it goes, the other stuff. One of the interesting objects was the Mecanum Robot (well, actually remote controlled), a project of my colleague Angelo. He build that monster, improved, failed, improved again to make it work. You might imagine how much fun it was to test it in the office :-)

Maker Carnival Shanghai 2013

Well, I just want to review the Maker Carnival in Shanghai last weekend (Oct. 19 & 20).

It was the second Maker Carnival in Shanghai and I may say it was a huge success. Many peopel came not only for watching but also asking questions and got in terested in the general Hacker/Maker activities.

DFRobot as a sponsor of the Maker Carnival had a booth showing new products and projects. Her you can see the Insect bot mini prototype.

Funny story at my expenses

People, I already posted a pictures once hurting myselve. Now it's time again to get your laught at my expenses.

maybe you already know that from my facebook or G+ account but here we go again.

What do you see? Ok, it's my big right toe... that much I will tell you.

Here another picture to make it more obvious.

Now, guess what happened?

Campus Party London 2013 - Aftermath

This is the place where you will find the detailed report, pictures, videos of the Campus Party event 2013 in London with the view of our Letsmakerobots guys (well, and the guys from Roboternetz with whom we shared the table).

If you have been there then please let me know if you want to show or write something, so we can show it here in one big blog post.

Campus Party in London was held in the O2 Arena, one huge dome with a cinema, lots of restaurants and the big event area.

3D printed LMR Logo Bot

Since I need to test and improve the 3D printer on my desk I wanted to print a LMR logo bot. After a short request in the forum I've got the 3D file from birdmun, who else could answer that qucik and even have the right thing you need. bird, thanks man....you are the true LMneRd ;-) That is the file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v4vgif5tude0v63/LMRLogobot.stl

Now the pictures:

Logo Bot 3D model

In preparation for the Campus party I want to print some of the logo bots. Does anybody have the 3D model available? I do not have enough time to create it by myselves. Anybody up to create one which I could use?

ALF XXL

Well, as ALF got retired and the motors are not available anymore I am going to build another ALF, but this time XXL.

The prototype is already breadboarded and working. The beam is made of two disposable chopsticks (what else when you live in China...LOL)

But a picture says more than a thousand words...

...and that's a nice ass...

ANNIVERSARY SALE, FREE SHIPPING and GIFTS!

DFRobot is now three years young.

Usually the one who has birthday gets some gifts but this time DFRobot is giving away lots of stuff...starting with a FREE SHIPPING DEAL for all orders from today to July 12.

Silicon Crusher

Ok, here is our entry for our company intern Sumo Robot Competition.

The name came to me in a blink of an eye :-) Silicon Crusher (or short SC) is based on the MiniQ chassis as the other participants too. The rules are not exactly Mini Sumo rules but based on it (http://robogames.net/rules/all-sumo.php)

Maker Faire - Editors Choice - Cheapduino

Maker Faire in San Franzisco. I could not be there but still got something on my desk this morning.

Yeah, that's the Maker Faire Editor's Choice banner, given for the DFRobot's Cheapduino and signed by Andrew

Sad story about Chopstick Junior and Campus Party Berlin 2012

Well, let me begin with an introduction of the robot and the event but you need to promise me to read it to the end...or just the end if you don't have time.

Why we don't want to be sucked into another universe!

Well, it's about time that somebody (me) stopps the danger of the words found in kariloy's posts.

As some LMRians already mentioned, we get sucked into another dimension or universe by spelling out them loud.

Now...kariloy, step forward, be a man and give us some evidence that we are all wrong and there is no danger to say those words loud.

We want a video, you saying the word which is found in your last post...

Hacker and Lovers

Ok, there is not much new from my side in terms of robots but I did another photo shooting. Today, of course, with the topic "Valentines Day" (I hope you guys did not forget this)

Here is the first picture related to hackers (my special greetings to MarkusB :-) )

And the one for the Valentines Day comes now:

Hugo, our man

Hugo, this is a thank you blog for your work.

I believe that your work will be honored when LMR v4 is done. Then we can see what kept you out of your bed. Not all people can see what work has to be done to get a website up and running, especially a website with such a huge ammount of data.

How I can identify a robot using an unique ID?

For the Swarm Robot Project I need a unique ID to identify each single robot and also let the robot only execute program parts which are assigned to it's ID.

Why I wanna do that?

ALF got retired

So, ALF or better the prototype board ALF got retired. And as in each case of going into retirement we just threw him a party he will never forget.

Today ALF got the star in our photo shooting. See what hard job he had to do...and that in his age...anyway, he performed good, professional and very gentleman.

First thing was to find the black line...perfect done, ALF is lined up.

ALF Donation for LMR4

Ok, I will make it short.

As a result of the Campus Party 2012 in Berlin I just donated 66UD$ for the development of LMR4.

Why and how?

Campus Party Berlin Tempelhof
