Let's Make Robots!

Arduino

Does anyone use an Arduino DUE

I am curious if anyone has an Arduino DUE. I cannot remember anyone posting a robot that uses one.

I suspect they are not popular because they are 3.3V.

If you considered buying one and changed your mind then why? Do they have some problem other than 3.3V?

You know I bought a Service Droid from Dagu, right? I wrote about assembling the kit here: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/39518

An Arduino that runs Windows or Linux, or almost any other OS

The Arduino has done wonders to bring embedded systems in reach of people who otherwise wouldn't have access to them.  It is a very powerful system, but it has drawbacks and limitations.  The program and data sizes are limited, as is the execution speed.  They are often plenty for many projects, but sometimes more is needed.  For larger projects more space is needed.  Or maybe it needs to be faster.  Also, you only have one program and to have the processor do more than one thing (multitask) requires some tricky programming.

Two Arduino problems fixed in one day! Halelujah!

I've been procrastinating on two problems that I've not been able to resolve  - or google an answer for in my code.

1) Slow response in the Serial.parseInt() function... yes google gave me lots of people with the same problem, but I finally found a reference to  Serial.setTimeout()  ... well what do you know...  I set Serial.setTimeout(50)  in my setup... and low and behold...

  SNAP RESPONSE now!!!!

Face Tracking Using OpenCV and Processing (Error) [SOLVED]

UPDATE: As i said guys, when the face tracking program is launched immediately on start-up, i don't get this error, otherwise i do. Now, the program has launched, without an error, but the display output is totally black. Any suggestions guys?

I also referred to CP's solution to this same problem, ON A LAPTOP, but to no avail. I installed quicktime, and a vdig driver, but no progress till now.

C# To Arduino Programming

Good morning LMRian's.

I have purchased my very first Arduino (Uno), and am trying to find a simple "blink" tutorial to use C# (Visual Studio 2012) to the Arduino onboard LED.

Can anyone please recommend any links?

All Arduino boards, Robots Parts are 15% Off, Last 24 Hours

Cyber Monday Sale

All items are 15% off for last 24 hours. Hurry up to save money$$$!

Got all the parts... any tips before I start?

Hey all, so I have a simple idea for a robot, hack a hexbug spider and put a Sharp IR sensor on it to make it autonomous.

I have:

1 hexbug spider

1 Arduino UNO

1 Seeed Studio motor shield

1 Sharo IR sensor from the SH robot

all the hook ups, solder etc.

Heres my question; would it make more sense to hack the existing chip on the spider, or cut it out and just have everything go straight into the Arduino?

If you have any tips or such before I get started, that would be really appreciated!

Transistor based H-Bridge

Hello everyone I realised after burning through 6 L293D's that they were getting old. I hated them mostly due to the fact that they were fragile. I also burned 3 of them because of static electricity. So I decided to try and make a cheap H-Bridge from transistors. This is just a test circuit what I need to know is: is the circuit correct, can this type of H-Bridge handle more than 2 Amps depending on the transistors used, and do you guys have any suggested modifications if it is wrong.

Speech Recognition - Robot Thinking and Understanding

Programming a robot to do a single specific task such as following a line is hard enough for most people. So how do we program a robot so it can perform many different task? How do we command / control it?

Recently I have been wanting to use the speech and voice recognition of an Android mobile phone. My friend Bing wrote a simple app for me that allows my controller to connect to an Android phone via Bluetooth and then send the phone a list of words that I want the robot to recognize. For example: "OddJob,go,forward, backward, turn, stop"

Good Pan/Tilt Code (Code example included)

I recently did a small consulting gig and built a one-off robot for a customer. The gig included the hardware but also the client needed some example code to get himself up and running a bit quicker. This turned out to be a great oportunity for me to sit down and clean-up some code that I have been using for years, in this case, my pan and tilt code...

Send data from Processing to Arduino

Hi everyone,

I am trying to send 70 values from Processing to Arduino (as fast as possible), in order for Arduino to feed with these values a servo driver shield. What I tried to do in my code is to send the data one by one and each time a value is received Arduino confirms that to Processing in order to move to the next one. However my code doesn't works properly. Please have a look below to see what mistakes do I have, or if you have a better solution for the procedure please share it! Thank you for you time!
