NINA - The Robot

Hi everyone! I'm new to LMR. I got into robotics a few years back when something hit me. "Hey! I know what I can do this summer! I'll read books on robots and learn how to build them!" So that's what I did!

Nina's Mobile Base Module

Free BIG Track For BIG Robot!!

HI,

 I got this:

tabletop.jpg

This are 10 FT (3.048 m) of Rexnord Table Top Chain, They are plastic on metal chain, model D843K3-1/4.

I tink that this track can be used in a nice and big robot track, if the plastic is sliperry can cover it with anti-skid tape for more traction.

IF someone is interested on this, only have to pay for shipping to your location anywere in this beautiful world !!!

Track design for tracked robots

I am brand new to the robot hobby with questions about track profiles.

The high sided triangular track profile of Wall-E or Johnny 5 looks really good, but seems to make inefficient use of track links.  Other than good looks, is there a good design reason for this profile?

Of the other general profiles available (parallelogram - WWI tanks), (rounded rectangle - Christie type WWII tanks), (inverted trapazoid - short base down), what are the relative merits in terms of efficient use of links vs. object climbing ability?

So you love tracks but...

.. you are not able to find the rigth size, or...

you have enough time but not enough money for them, or...

you need real though ones, or..

you just want to enjoy with new ideas, and..

you are able to build..

then  maybe this link will provide some ideas to make you happy ;)

Treads?

Hey guys, I have a question for you. I see many of you guys using the track and wheel set from Tamiya (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=321) that is special built to be compatible with their dual geared motors. For such a cheap price you get a very versatile tread kit that allows endless combinations of tread length and design, however, it seems what's gained in inexpense, is lost in quality.

Robot with Tracks

Hello, just a question to all who made a robot with the tamiya track set: did you implemented any kind of track tensioner? or just calculated the size and "stretch" it over the sprokets&wheels ?
