Challenges

Here is a challenge, something I just thought about.

A Segway is a vehicle on two wheels that uses a gyroscope to keep the rider upright, accelerating the motors when the user tilts forward and slows down when leaning back so the rider doesn't fall.

This would create a two wheel robot, but if the motors were mounted at right angles and drive a ball in the opposite way a ball mouse works. One motor drives forwards and back, the other turns the robot clockwise and counter clockwise. If the robot tilts to the left, the motor drives to the right to stabilise. 

• Make a robot that one way or the other writes either "letsmakerobots.com", or "LMR" the way you like it.
• Shoot it on video, enter it as a robot.
• Best entries will be promoted / used to promote LMR - Fame, envy, marvel, admiration and respect is the prize!

Your robot can shape the letters in clay, burn it on your sisters dog with a laser, build them out of breadcrumbs.. or draw it with a pencil on a piece of paper.

The Challenge

Not so much a complete robot, rather a very important robot component. The challenge here is to build a Microchip PIC based I²C to Bluetooth device.

The protocol used by the bus master to address device on the I²C bus is completely up to you but the end result must be the ability to send/receive information to/from a BlueTooth equipped desktop PC. (Edited 2008-09-13) Extra merit will be awarded for the ability to take input from a Wii remote.

Your Rights

This Challange is to see the craftsmanship of the robot along with the programers abilty to know the details of there robots movements.

Basic Start in the middle and have your robot movie to the outer squar and then move to the following squars. Then go back to the center. That is the challange.

Rules : 1. No Senors!                                                                                   

           2. Must be in side each box fully.

Most of us make robots, and most of us make robots that can somehow manage to move around on a flat surface.

But.. Can you make a robot that can

Drive, crawl, walk, or jump around.. perhaps even avoid obstacles etc..

AND

Lay upside down

AND

If it is lays upside down, sideways, or in any position on a flat surface, will manage to turn itself around to "upright" and start moving again

• Find any old (or new & cheap) toy.
• Rip out it´s guts! (just the electronics - but leave motors, lights, sensors etc it might have)
• Insert your brain! (well - not your own, a microcontroller)
• Add sensors!
• Code, test and have fun!
• Film the result at some point, and enter it on letsmakerobots.com!

This competition is completely bananas:

First it went on air before it should have. And then it was won by JIP. But then it was not, he did not drive around all legs.

Make a robot that drives, walks, rolls.. or in any other way makes it´s way around the 4 legs of a chair!

Result was that an unfinished competition went un air, unintended! And before I knew it, it was won by JIP with this robot. But then i realized that hes robot did not in fact circle all the legs of the chair, and he was disqualified!

Therefore "The Chair Challenge" is now "The Chair Challenge! (Part II)" - we try again, and this time the rules are a little different :)
